HOW LONG HAVE YOU WORKED WITH PLN LAWYERS SYDNEY FOR AND WHAT WERE YOU DOING BEFORE HAND?
I commenced as a solicitor at PLN in October 2009. Prior to this I completed a double degree of Law and Arts in Communication at the University of Technology Sydney and at the University of Ottawa, Canada. During my studies I interned at two large media corporations and also volunteered at a community legal centre based in Sydney.
After completing my studies I acquired an internship in a prominent commercial law firm in Amsterdam, the Netherlands where I acted in several international commercial transactions and disputes. I enjoyed the cross jurisdictional commercial work and this lead me to PLN’s doorstep back home.
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES?
I advise PLN’s local and foreign clients on corporate, commercial and financing transactions which are usually multi-jurisdictional, including advising on corporate and regulatory matters.
WHAT IS IT YOU ENJOY MOST FROM YOUR WORK ?
The variety of the work and the diversity of jurisdictions in which PLN advises ensures there’s never a dull moment. PLN has clients throughout the Pacific region and often one matter will span across several jurisdictions. It’s great working with colleagues who have lived and worked up in the Pacific Islands, who have extensive knowledge in applying the law in these jurisdictions.
WHAT IS YOUR NO. 1 TRAVEL DESTINATION IN THE PACIFIC AND WHY?
My favourite place (so far) is Mana Island in Fiji. The ocean’s pristine, there’s plenty of sun, and the snorkelling, windsurfing and sailing was a lot of fun.
BEST BAR AND RESTAURANT IN THE PACIFIC?
South Beach Restaurant and Bar on the water’s edge of Mana Island. Friendly staff, great view, yummy seafood, and the pina coladas aren’t too bad either.
WHAT IS YOUR TIP FOR TRAVELLING THROUGHOUT THE PACIFIC?
Take plenty of sunscreen, it is HOT.
