From July to October 2010, John Ridgway, Managing Partner of PLN and Judge Greg Woods QC, District Court of New South Wales, will be co-presenting, as part of University of Sydney Master of Laws (LLM) program, “Legal Systems of the Pacific.”
The course is linked with other courses within the Centre for Asian and Pacific Law in the University of Sydney Law School, but it brings into particular focus the broader public law issues, including constitutional and criminal law, international treaties, civil and corporate law, and the role of Australia in seeking to provide guidance and assistance in legal programs.
The course will focus on the regional legal systems including PNG, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Fiji, and US-affiliated jurisdictions. The course will uniquely draw upon the experiences of a number of senior lawyers, both in private practice and in government, international scholars, and international law and relation experts, to illuminate the significance – particularly to Australia – of Pacific legal systems.
Please email us if you are interested in attending any of the lectures or for a copy of the lecture schedule.
