PLN Lawyers Sydney prides itself on its commitment to Pacific communities. Our physical presence in the community distinguishes us from other major Australian and New Zealand law firms. Our pro bono and community contributions include:
- UNICEF Australia
Offering pro bono assistance to UNICEF and 14 Pacific governments in legislative reform under the Convention of the Rights of the Child.
- Microfinance Pasifika
The Microfinance Pasifika Network is
an initiative of the Foundation for Development Cooperation. PLN
Lawyers provided pro bono assistance in establishing Microfinance
Pasifika as a charitable organisation. The Microfinance Pasifika
Network is an alliance of institutions committed to supporting
disadvantaged people in the Pacific to improve their quality of life,
through the provision of inclusive and sustainable services such as
savings, credit, remittances and payment services and insurance.
- Loss of Port Vila, Vanuatu Courthouse and Library
In June 2007 the Vanuatu Courthouse and Library was tragically burnt to the ground. PLN Lawyers coordinated an effort for the donation of legal books and journals to recreate the Courthouse Library.
