The rooftop at the Glenmore Hotel

On an uncharacteristically hot November afternoon, Sam, Shelley and I were racking our brains deciding where in Sydney to get lunch. With a snap of our fingers we decided the best place to take full advantage of the heatwave was to soak up the sun and enjoy a rooftop lunch. After a bit of research, we headed to the rooftop at the Glenmore Hotel. And we were not disappointed. Labouring up the flights of stairs could be best described as an effort (Pilates the day before may have had something to do with it), but that hard was all worth it once we reached the rooftop, were we were treated to a relaxed dining area and incredible views of a Sydney Harbour. A rooftop bar in 38 degree temperature could make a camel thirsty, so we headed to the bar where our thirst was certainly quenched! The bar offered a reasonably priced and wide assortment of beer on tap, cocktail options, and a diverse wine list which tickled our fancy. If you, like us, are looking for more than just a coldie, the menu will satisfy your taste buds. It featured all the classics including burgers, steak and chicken schnitty. The Glenmore market salad in particular was a delight, featuring red apples, cos lettuce, avocado, goji berries, and toasted hazelnuts. Overall, we enjoyed a great lunch, great wine and a great atmosphere – couldn’t ask for more! Go if… you are seeking to unwind with friends and take in the sun and a breathtaking view in a relaxed environment. Don’t go if… the rain or wind is getting you down.
