PLNers take New York

It wouldn't be a PLN takeover without taking a sip at one of New York's most intriguing bars. On our recent trip to the Big Apple, Dirk and I decided to dive into the city's vibrant bar scene. On a buzzing Saturday afternoon, we found ourselves in the heart of Manhattan's East Village, ready for a unique adventure.

Our destination? Please Don't Tell (PDT), a speakeasy-style bar that promises an experience as secretive as its entrance. Hidden behind a vintage phone booth inside Crif Dogs, PDT's entrance alone was enough to spark our curiosity.

Stepping inside felt like entering a different era. The cozy, dimly lit interior, adorned with vintage decor, created an intimate atmosphere perfect for a quiet escape from the city's hustle and bustle. It was the much-needed respite we craved from the frenetic pace of NYC.

We were seated at the bar and introduced to the bartender, who quickly handed us the cocktail menu. The menu was filled with an exciting array of cocktails, making it hard to choose. I asked the bartender to help me choose a cocktail similar to a spicy margarita, and she suggested I try the Mezcal Mule, which was a refreshing and spicy delight. Naturally, I opted for a second one.

It was a much-needed opportunity for Dirk from our Melbourne office and me to catch up on all things PLN, life and debrief on the Impact Legal Training we attended at the Gruin Centre for Law and Social Entrepreneurship at NYU Law.

Unfortunately, we didn't indulge in the hot dogs from Crif Dogs. Instead, we made up with multiple trips to Apollo Bagels on Greenwich Avenue, tacos from Taqueria Gramercy and of course Joe’s Pizza during our time in the Big Apple.

PDT is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience one of New York's unique speakeasy bars.
